Our Hornets entertained us with a variety of amazing acts. There were singers, rappers, hip-hop dancers, interpretive dance acts, musicians, and a basketball exhibitionist. Truly, ACMS has talent. Dr Robertson and Ms. Payton at WIDUACMS Principal, Dr. Tonjai Robertson and Assistant Principal Ms. Lakeshia Payton were on the air at WIDU 1600 for the “Community Impact Hour” on Monday February 20th. The discussion included a wide range of topics related to our outstanding school. As a school of choice, Dr. Robertson explained the benefits of the year round option, the many options available to CCS students, and the important role ACMS plays in our community. Also mentioned was our excellent World Language department, headlined by our Spanish Immersion curriculum. If you would like to learn more about ACMS, contact our main office at 910-867-9147.

At our Heritage Essay Winnersrecently held Heritage Program, Three deserving Hornets were recognized for their writing excellence. These students were the finalists for the Heritage Essay contest sponsored by Bethel Lodge #849.  The finalist were 1st place winner Ja’Quan Johnson, 2nd place finalist Ghazanfar Ali , and 3rd place finalist Olivia Oratokhai. ACMS Robotic Team Logo

Congrats to our Hornets Isaiah Howard who placed 3rd in the category of Engineering and Aziza Matos who placed 4th in the category of Chemistry at the North Carolina Regional Science Fair held on Saturday, February 18th on the campus of UNC-Pembroke.  An enormous Hornet Buzz goes to the following students who were selected to participate in the North Carolina Regional Science Fair: Arrieanna Burns Williams, Nyla Badillo, Aaliyah Wilson, Aziza Matos, Isaiah Howard & Walter Reeves.
Not only were these future scientists chosen based on their topic and creativity, but each of them exhibited understanding how the scientific method is used to test a hypothesis, accumulate & analyze data, and articulate a clear conclusion of how their project could advance science. Thank you Hornets for committing to this project and your participation. You have exceptionally represented ACMS in an outstanding way.

On Thursday, February 23rd,Chinese Program Hornets  Ms Chen and our Chinese Language Arts students participated in the 2017 Chinese New Years Celebration at 71st High School. They celebrated the Year of the Roster by perform four selections. The performances were entitled ” Shadow Puppet Show”, “Dance Kongfy Fan”, Blue and “White China”, plus a singing of “The Brightest Star in the Sky”.  The song and dance performances demonstrated our Hornets knowledge of the rich culture and language of China. Fighter Pilot by Alyssa HousdenCongratulations to Alyssa Housden and her sponsor, Ms. Hessier for placing 2nd in the intermediate category of the statewide NCDOT 2017 Aviation Art Contest. Alyssa’s entree will be forwarded to Washington D.C. to be judged at the national competition later this year. She will also be awarded an art supply gift certificate and a cash award.

Circle K Check Picture A Big Hornet Buzz to Circle K for its donation of $1,000.00 to ACMS as part of the “Fueling our Schools” fundraising program. The “Fueling our Schools’ Program allows Circle K donates 10 cents for every gallon of fuel purchased on the fundraising night. We again thank Circle K and all of those in the community who supported this event. So, please keep the Buzz alive as the next “Fueling our Schools” event will happen on March 7th at the Circle K on 2001 Skibo Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28314. More details to come.

Are you a Dad of a Great Student? BECOME A WATCH D.O.G. WATCH D.O.G.S. is a male initiative supported by the National PTA to increase male mentorship in grades K-12.

Who are Watch D.O.G.S.?
Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities as assigned by the school principal or other administrator.
