Keeping Your CCS Chromebook Clean

Opened Chromebook laptopThis may seem like a simple topic, but computers require special cleaning even on the outside. Keeping your system free of dust, dirt, and liquids is the first step to computer care. Many of our students have had their CCS issued Chromebook checked out for a while now. Here are some tips for keeping it clean while it is on your account. Make sure you are turning the Chromebook off after the school day has ended so that the device may go through any needed updates overnight. Always turn off your computer before starting to clean it!

Keeping Your Chromebook Clean

If you have damages or issues with your Chromebook while it is in your possession the county will evaluate the problem(s). Possible damage would include, keyboards, mouse pad, screens, markings, and cosmetic issues either inside or out, lost or damaged chargers, stolen device (police report required), or any other issue where the laptop will not function as it was intended to do so. Students will be charged fees according to the damage that is assessed. First Offense:  $50     Second Offense: $75  Third Offense:  $100   Full Cost Replacement – $175/$225.  The district reserves the right to charge any other repair fees not listed above, that are directly associated with any misuse or intentional damage to devices. In addition, some damages may warrant a full replacement of the device, which is currently valued at $225.00. As fee structures may change throughout the term of this contract, sufficient written notice of changes to this fee schedule will be made available to all users and posted online. All repairs must be made by Cumberland County Schools Technology Department. No other individual, organization, or company is authorized to make any repairs to this device.
